How To Stop Bifold Doors Blowing In The Wind

How To Stop Bifold Doors Blowing In The Wind

Many homeowners are attracted to these large panes of glass that are bifold doors, due to their ability to flood your home with natural light and the integration to the outside they offer. Bifold doors are a popular choice for homeowners, however, as glass isn’t as strong as other materials, strong winds cause the doors to shake and slam them shut. This can create many issues causing the benefits bifold doors can bring to underperform, less energy efficiency and security, which is not worth buying as an investment.

There are a couple of ways to prevent this happening, such as:

Bifold Door Magnet

These small magnets can be placed on the top or the bottom of the door. They are powerful enough to hold the doors in place when the doors are open, connecting to the other door. This can be an efficient way to prevent them blowing, as the magnetic is powerful enough to restrain from the strongest winds.

Adjustable Friction Door Restrictor

A small, metal bar can be attached to the top of the door and to the frame. The unique feature of this is the adjustable friction mechanism, it allows you to adjust the amount of friction on the door. The friction is put in place to stop the door from blowing out and can be adjusted depending on the weather conditions.

There are also other possible preventers to help with affecting the wind on your bifold doors as part of the surrounding environment such as canopies and awnings, patios with walls and fences acting as barriers.
